Guavate in Orlando

Wow! All of the food from the piña colada, to the appetizer (alcapurrias de marisco and morcilla), to the entrees (get the mofongo relleno de whatever u want) was scrumptious. The customer service was impeccable and there was live music! I need to come back again I wanna try everything else on the menu.

The best restaurant in town...

If you're ready for a salt explosion this is your spot. I have dined here 3 times. Each time the food was prepped with so much salt that I couldn't finish it. If they would just reduce the salt they would be great. Great potential. Good service.

Delicious as always! I had the Mofongo stuffed with garlic sauce shrimp and for dessert the coconut flan. The flan was delicious too. The place was not crowded as usual and we got served pretty quickly too.

I went with my family of 6 to eat. We were turned down for service because they couldn’t “sit us together” the waiter left us waiting at the door with no response as to what can be done. We ended up leaving to another restaurant but we were definitely disappointed in their service especially since we have gone there before and have spoken so great about them to others. Will definitely not be returning. So if you coming with a group of more then 4 DONT BOTHER! They wont seat you!

My family and I absolutely loved this quaint spot. The food was very tasty and it was very clean. Staff was very attentive which made our visit more enjoyable. Definitely will visit again.

I love the food! It tastes and is prepared with the same flavor and loves as it is done in Puerto Rico.

Since is under new management everything is a disaster!!! When you take over a place with the fame and quality that Guavate used to have... you better continue with the good work or exceed with excellence!!!They reduce the amount of food!You have to wait like an hour or more cause the people in the kitchen are super slow!!!! And when we arrived a waiter told us that they were accepting only CASH, NO CREDIT CARDS!! What kind of place is this!!!I’m going to give them a second chance. So wait for my next review!!

OWNER CHANGE AND THE KITCHEN IS NOT THE SAME!!!! I did try takeout and dining in very disappointed. I been coming here for 10 years, I came in today something was wrong, I asked if they changed owners, the waitress say yes. Extremely loud music including the waitress, after waiting for 42min I ask for my order she said is coming. The order came wrong plus the meat (Carne Frita) had to much Pepper and Orégano. The lost my business a family of 6 the used to eat here at least 4 times a month. Very disappointed with environment and food go somewhere else this is not the place any longer better go to La Lechonera latina 100 times better.

Date of visit 23-FEB-2020. 1st time customer and had to share the following: Was seated on the only table for two next to a chalk board where all the traffic walks by. This table should honestly be removed. Had a monfongo with pernil. Although it was edible, I've honestly have had better. The pork was too salty and overloaded with enough garlic to slay a legion of vampires. Lastly, paid the bill and the waitress left my CC inserted in the register/machine. Well folks thanks for reading and the intention is to share, not to discourage anyone from eating here. On the other hand, I'll wait before considering giving this place another try.

First time there for me. It was good.

I have been to many Puerto Rican resturants, and this by far is the best spot I have been to the food is delicious, freshly made, cooked on order . Definitely reminds me of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷

This used to be my favorite place. They say they haven't changed owner, but I believe they have. All staff members are new, the service is horrendous, food took an 1hr 15 min and it was barely warm. They weren't busy at all. They didn't have many of their desserts, and my visit few days before today's, they didn't even have the meat that I had ordered. They were slow even when they were splitting the bill. It's too bad, such great place has become so bad. I hope they get things together and become the great restaurant it once was.

Great food, not too big. A little expensive. Plan ahead as it can get crowded for lunch and dinner.

Food great, service great, no complaints. Note 1: if you're want the Mofongo, get the one that's made with yucca instead of the plaintain. It's more moist with a crispy bite finish. Good amount of meat and the shrimps are big!👍Note 2: Mofongos are sharable!

My sister took me here saying it’s her favorite. Unfortunately it seems they’re in a transition period because the food took so long. About 1 and a half hours. We almost left. Apparently the chef had left and our waiter ended up helping in the kitchen. Our waiter was super friendly and another worker, maybe the manager, eventually let us know of the situation. They were friendly and apologized profusely. While the food was a little warm, it was delicious. 3 stars due to the wait. Hopefully they figure things out.

Do not go here it is a waste of your money. The staff could care less about you or the quality of your food. Prices are a outrageous and wait time is horrendous. Honestly, I dont even know how they are still open. Many years ago it use to be good and not sure if management changed, but I wouldnt be surpised if they got reported to BBB. Better to go elsewhere and spend your hard earned $.

The food is as amazing as the local art that is hanging on the walls.

I used to love this place, but the food quality has lower significantly while the price still the same. The biftec had so much fiber that I floss my teeth with it. Also the mofongo was sweet, the beans had too much tocino and the rice puddin was not done as the rice was hard. I doubt I will come back again.

First time was not good after the new administration. Unfortunately last night was not different. Long story short. The water tasted horrible, breaded shrimp was a little bit overcooked and the trifongo was too pasty. never got the salad that was offered as part of the main course and the bread that is supposed to come in first was brought out when I was done, hard and cold. Hopefully they are paying attention to this reviews and make it great again.

I have been coming to this restaurant for quite some time and I understand things are not the same since the quarantine but I have to say that we wer very disappointed after having a reservation for one wk for a family members birthday so dissatisfied. Upon arriving and waiting. one of the girls asked where we would like to sit.. we made our choice then the people behind us went and made a very private complaint. The so called "acting manager" came back and informed us that we needed to make a 30 min confirmation call. We were never informed of this at any time upon making reservations. After explaining we made reservations we were asked for the name of the person taking the reservation. In all my years of dining out I have never been asked to call 30 min before to confirm a reservation. that just does not make sense. . Not to mention the atmosphere seemed quite disjointed. not sure what happened but it does not feel the same. Im sorry but I ill not return

If you are looking for amazing authentic Puerto Rican food, look no further. The Mofongo here is amazing. I make a point of stopping here any time I’m in the Orlando area. It’s that good.

They took to long for food and forgot to but in bag the appetizers we order and we got charge for it.didnt realize till we got home.

Went on a Sunday . We loved it. Food was so good. Place was clean. Servers and kitchen made our special request Friendly servers tried to do Mofongo is so good. Our family plans to make this our Sunday family dinner spot.

the operating hours listed are not accurate. after a long drive i went there and it was closed . according their website and Google it was supposed to be open !

My family and I used to love coming to eat at this restaurant. Today we had one of the worst experience. They only had two servers so service was slow, the food took an hour and a half and when it finally arrived it was cold, their mofongo was dry, no flavor... the poor server didn’t even know what say. No manager around... we will look around and every single customer was having the same experience.

Another great meal at Guavate! The Trifongo with pernil was superb as well as the mofongo a la marinera. Our waitress Wanda was very attentive! We look forward to coming back again next year and hope to see Wanda again! BTW, their patio area is pet friendly! Great food, great service and pet friendly. What more can you ask for?

The flavors are spot on! However, "relleno" means stuffed and the Mofongo Relleno de Churrasco was not "stuffed" at all. For almost $23 I want some meat! 😡

Used to love it! Under new management? Slow service and the food just isn't the same. We won't be going back again after being regulars. Liked the blood sausage and pork entrees. Sad!

It was a great place to eat, food was delicious. From the beginning of this year seems like something changed. The food quality is not as good, portions are smaller, prices are higher and always cancelling delivery orders (saying they are too busy when its not the case). So sad to see how they changed and it wasn't for the best.Last time I went I ordered a mofongo with steak (because their steak was the best it was like grilled I think) and the steak I got was nothing like before. It wasn't grilled as usual, it was too thin and wet (grilled steak is dry) and didn't taste good at all. The time before that the mofongo tasted as if it was reheated from a previous day, and the time before that I ordered a mofongo filled with shrimp and steak, and I only received the shrimp and the steak separate (no mofongo at all). Not sure what happened to them, but the place is not as good as it was.

We went for the first time since quarantine. Food was great. Servers so nice. working hard. Felt so good to be around an atmosphere I am used to from home PR. I read reviews complaining about prices?? Really do you people know how much the cost of food has increased for restaurants. How is a restaurant supposed to pay employee( who could not get unemployment because they could not get on government website!) Really if you cannot afford to go out to eat stay home and eat a sandwich. Do not go on a website complaining. Grow up or go ask your mommy to feed you for free.

Great atmosphere, nice staff, and food was delicious!We went for the lunch special it was not busy or crowded and yet we still had to stand at the door to be seated for far too long.As we looked through the menu we saw how pricey they charge for the dinner menu. Thankfully we went during the lunch special business hours.Well worth it for the lunch special. You get a variety of options to choose from and with your meal comes complimentary bread and salad.Food was delicious only down side was that my meat was cold. But flavor wise and presentation wise everything was good.Another down side would be that the server took way too long in between tables and to give us our checks which we were late. Seeing as we were on a time constraint.Overall experience I would revisit but only for lunch hours and not very often due to slow service.

This is by far my favorite Puerto Rican restaurant in Orlando. The food is always on point, staff is so friendly. Every time I travel to Florida no matter where in Florida I always come here first and make sure before I leave Florida and go there again.

Our server Simon was great. The ambiance was warm and inviting and the food had great flavor.

This was so good! I wasn't sure what to expect based on previous reviews, but I had heard it was worth checking out and I'm so glad I did, it was such a treat. The food was absolutely delicious and our server was helpful and on top of things. One of my favorite restaurants in the Orlando area, I'm just sorry I didn't try it sooner. I'll definitely be back!

We’ve been coming to this place for a while now. We haven’t had it since quarantine so today we decided to order some takeout since we’re still not comfortable eating out. We order two meals, two pasteles and two natural juices. We always order the same and it’s never more than $50. After placing my order the girl who took It said our total would be given to us once we got there, we thought that was a little odd but we went with it. Once we got there she tells us that our total was $85 for the same two meals we always order but this time the portions are even less. I am all for supporting local businesses but not when they are jacking up the prices on everything. I love this place the food is great but I will never eat here again and I will never recommend it to anybody ever again you guys are really taking advantage of people and it’s not nice. Again I’m all for supporting local businesses but not when they are ripping people off.
